Vision boarding is the ultimate tool for visualizing your goals, dreams, and aspirations. By bringing your intentions to life in a visual format, you’re creating a daily reminder of what you want and manifesting your goals by placing visual reminders in a space that allows you to see them every day.
The principal of vision boarding isn’t just about looking at your dreams enough times, that they’ll come true. Well, it’s a bit about that. Because the more you look at something and think about it, the more likely it is to become reality. But the truth is, it’s going to take hard work! You can’t just look at your goals and expect them to come true. There is a lot more behind the process than simply making a fun collage. If you’d like to learn more about how to back your visions up with a goal setting process. Make sure to check out our blog post on How to Set Your Year Up for Success. Or give Cornelia’s latest YouTube video a watch, where she dives into this topic even further.
Here’s our step-by-step guide to creating a vision board for the new year that’s intentional, inspiring, and uniquely yours.

1. Set your Intentions
Before you start collecting images and quotes, take time to reflect on your goals for the new year. Try to think about different areas of your life: career, health, relationships, personal growth, travel, or anything else meaningful to you. Ask yourself:
- What do I want to achieve?
- How do I want to feel this year?
- Who am I becoming?
This clarity will help you gather visuals that truly resonate with your intentions.
2. Gather Materials
For a digital vision board:
- Choose your platform, you can use tools like Canva to create it
- Source your photos from Pinterest, Pixels, or Unsplash
For a physical vision board, gather supplies like:
- A board or large piece of paper (poster board, cork board, or any empty frame)
- Magazines, printed images, or photos that represent your goals
- Scissors, glue, tape, and other craft supplies
- Optional: stickers, markers, and decorative elements to make your board uniquely yours

3. Choose Images, Words, and Quotes
Find visuals that resonate with your goals, whether they’re pictures of specific places you’d like to visit, images that convey feelings like joy or calm, or symbols of achievements you’re aiming for. You can also add inspiring quotes or words that capture the energy you want to bring into the new year.
Tip: Be selective! Choose only images and words that genuinely inspire you and align with your goals. Less can often be more.
4. Arrange and Create Your Board
Start arranging your images, words, and quotes on the board. There’s no right or wrong way to do this—go with what feels best for you. Some people prefer grouping images by categories (e.g., health, career, relationships), while others like a free-form collage.
If digital: Create separate sections or use Canva’s grid templates to organize your images. Check out our Vision Board Template Kit on Etsy!

5. Place Your Vision Board Somewhere Visible
Once your vision board is complete, place it somewhere you’ll see often. This might be in your home office, bedroom, or wherever you start your day. The goal is to keep your vision board visible so you can reconnect with your intentions daily. If your vision board is digital, consider saving it as your wallpaper or screensaver for easy access.
6. Revisit and Reflect
Your vision board is a living tool, so it’s helpful to revisit it periodically. Make sure to take a few moments each month to reflect on your progress, celebrate wins, and update any goals that evolve over time. You can also add new images or remove ones that no longer feel aligned with your journey.
