Seasonal Routine Reset: Refreshing Your Daily Habits for Fall

Growth Looks Good On You Sis!

Summer has been all about adventures and embracing spontaneity! We have all been making the most of the long, sun-filled days! It’s always a bitter sweet feeling that sweeps in when the cooler temps start to hit. It can be hard to say goodbye to the more carefree mindset, but on the other hand, I love getting back into a routine! Autumn is one of my favourite times of year, it feels like the ultimate reset, but also a seasonal shift that doesn’t just show up in the weather, but in our energy, too. It’s the perfect time to slow down and take a mini inventory of our lives.

  6. Reset Your Soul

Step 1: Reflect on What’s Working (and What’s Not)

Before we can plan and get excited about a new season, its important to take time to reflect. What habits from the summer season supported your energy and mindset? Which ones felt draining or inconsistent?

Take some time to journal or meditate on these prompts:

  • What do I want to feel more (or less) of this fall?
  • List everything that gave you energy this past season.
  • List everything that drained your energy this past season.
  • When did I feel most grounded this past season?
  • Where did a majority of your energy go and how does it align with your current priorities?

Step 2: Rebuild Your Mornings with Intention

With darker mornings and cooler starts, your AM routine might need a seasonal tweak. Personally, a morning routine is everything. It sets the tone for my day, especially when it comes to protecting my mental clarity and energy.

Instead of rushing, try embracing slower, more grounded starts. Think:

  • Putting on a mellow playlist or nature sounds while you ease into your tasks
  • Warm lemon water or a cozy drink (a pumpkin spice latte moment, anyone?)
  • 5-10 minutes of journaling, stretching, or simply sitting in stillness
  • Get some movement in, whether a full on workout or even something gentle like a morning walk, yoga, or a pilates flows to get your day started
  • Opening your windows for a few minutes of fresh air, even if it’s chilly

Step 3: Create Cozy, Nourishing Evenings

An evening routine not only helps you unwind and recharge, it also sets you up for success the next day This could look like:

  • Logging off screens an hour earlier
  • Tidying up the house
  • Making time for a good book or mindful skincare
  • Cooking more warm, grounding meals and really hone in on seasonal foods (soups and stews!)
  • Setting a regular bedtime that aligns with your energy needs
  • Lay out your clothes or make a rough plan for the next day
  • Doing a brain dump or journal to clear your mind before bed

Step 4: Reset Your Work Rhythms

Whether you work from home, run a business, or have a 9-5, fall is a great time to:

  • Clean up your digital space (inbox, files, desktop)
  • Revisit your daily workflow and to-do list structure
  • Build in 1-2 blocks of focus time without distractions
  • Reconnect with your “why” behind your work

Step 5: Bring Back Boundaries

Summer can blur routines with spontaneous plans and late nights. Now’s a good time to:

  • Define work hours and unplug time
  • Protect your weekends or evenings as sacred
  • Say no to things that drain your energy

Step 6: Reset Your Soul

Beyond habits and schedules, fall is a time to come home to yourself. Think of this part of your seasonal reset as tending to your inner world, the part of you that craves slowness, presence, and a little magic.

Romanticize the Season

Make everyday moments feel dreamy. Turn chores into rituals, errands into mini adventures, and routines into cozy experiences. That might look like:

  • Swapping harsh lighting for warm, soft lamps
  • Listening to acoustic playlists or jazz while you cook
  • Wearing fuzzy socks and brewing tea in your favourite mug
  • Taking long walks just to crunch leaves under your boots

Create a “Fill Up Your Cup” List

Make a list of the small, soul-nourishing things that make you feel good just because. These are your reset tools for when you’re feeling tired, off-track, or overwhelmed.

Some ideas:

  • Reading on the couch under a cozy blanket
  • A solo date to your favourite coffee shop
  • Face masks and phone-free baths
  • Creating a new playlist
  • Calling a friend
  • A weekend farmers market stroll
  • Baking, decorating, or journaling in cozy corners
  • A Sunday reset routine with candles and music

Break Up with Your Phone, Even Just A Bit (Your nervous system will thank you!!)

Fall invites us to be more present and sometimes, that means unplugging. You don’t need to disappear from the digital world, but you can create more space for the real one.

Try:

  • No scrolling in bed and swap it for a book or meditation
  • 1 screen-free hour in the morning or evening
  • Leaving your phone behind on a walk (and if that feels scary -been there- it’s probably a sign it would be good for you!)
  • Turning off non-essential notifications

Honour your Needs🤎 This is your reminder: you’re allowed to shift, soften, and re-align as often as you need.

Listening to and welcoming what you need, each season and throughout the year, is one of the most fulfilling ways to support yourself. Whether that means more rest, more structure, more joy, or simply less pressure, let your inner cues guide you.
