Creating a life you love that consists of the perfect amount of work-life balance, isn’t always easy! In fact I would say most of you reading this, don’t feel you’ve achieved the balance you’re looking for. Trust me, it’s tough! And times seem to be changing, more and more people are looking to find more balance in their work and personal life. “Work-life balance was the highest-ranking factor for staff for their current or future jobs for 83% of the 26,000 workers surveyed across 35 countries.” – The Guardian. So clearly achieving more balance in our lives is important to all of us. Let’s take a look at some work-life balance tips to give you some more peace of mind and relaxation in life.
Work-life balance may not be linear either. Some months you may feel like you’re on top of your game! Other months you may feel burnt out and barely keeping your head above water. I know I feel this shift a lot, really depending on the week. But the goal here isn’t to be perfect. It’s to create a life that isn’t overwhelming, that’s fulfilling and full of passion, but also filled with relaxation and quiet time. Achieving that optimal balance between the two, takes time. But it’s definitely possible! In today’s blog we’re breaking down 5 tips for creating better work-life balance and how to live a fulfilling and productive life!
How to Prioritize Work-Life Balance
- Communicate Your Needs
- Prioritize Self-Care and Relaxation
- Create Work-Life Seperation
- Build a Support Network

Let’s Breakdown the Best Ways to Achieve Work-Life Balance:
1. Evaluate Your Current Routine
Before you can build better balance, you need to understand how your time and energy are currently being spent. Where are your hours going? A simple time audit for a few days can help you spot patterns and identify areas for change.
A gentle shift for yourself when it comes to making sure your routine is fitting your lifestyle, is to check-in with yourself on a weekly or monthly basis. Maybe you plan out your weeks on a Sunday. Where have you found time to fuel your cup? How many hours are you working? What are items on your to-do list that need to get done. Try to focus on planning your weeks with balance in mind. And remember. Work-life balance isn’t static, it shifts with seasons of life.
2. Set Clear Boundaries Around Allocated Work Time
Have you ever logged off at 6 PM only to feel like your brain never actually left work mode? You’re not alone. In today’s hustle culture, creating true separation between work and personal life can feel like a constant challenge. But setting intentional boundaries around your work hours is one of the most effective ways to protect your energy.
Start by clearly defining your work hours and actually sticking to them. When the day ends, turn off notifications, log out of work apps, and mentally clock out. Use features like Do Not Disturb mode to limit after-hours interruptions and create a stronger distinction between work and personal time. If you work from home, take it a step further by separating your digital spaces too. Consider different browser profiles or disabling work-related alerts on your personal phone. These small boundaries send a big message to your brain: work is done, and it’s time to rest.

3. Cultivate a Supportive Work Environment
Creating work-life balance isn’t just about what happens outside of work, it starts with the environment you work in. Open communication with your team or clients is key. Be honest about your capacity and set clear boundaries so expectations are aligned. A healthy work culture respects those boundaries and helps prevent burnout. For example, learning to say “no” gracefully is a powerful skill. A simple script like, “That sounds like a great opportunity, but I’m at capacity right now” sets a clear limit while keeping things professional.
Boundaries aren’t selfish, they’re a form of self-respect and an essential part of protecting your time and mental health. Additionally, don’t underestimate the power of your physical workspace. Whether you’re working remotely or in an office, design a space that feels calming and supportive. Good lighting, a comfortable chair, and small personal touches can make a big difference in how you show up each day.
4. Create Separation from Your Work & Home Life
Ever since more people have started working from home, the balance and separation between work and life lines, have been blurred. Perhaps you work from your couch or even your bedroom! Maybe you work on and off throughout all hours of the day. It has become more difficult to keep your work life offline when you’re at home. I personally feel this a lot, as I run a business from my home, and work my full-time job from home as well. There are many days where I feel exhausted and stressed from the lines crossing between work and personal time. A goal would be to find a workspace out of the home, to create more relaxation when I am in a space of solitude. But this isn’t possible for everyone, it’s not even possible for me right now! So try to find some ways to keep your work in a specific part of your home. Or set clear work hour boundaries when you can. Perhaps you aim to unplug by 6pm each night, try not to work weekends. Little shifts throughout your week can make a difference.

5. Make Time for Joy Outside of Work
Work-life balance isn’t just about working less… it’s also about living more! Making time for things that bring you joy is essential for refilling your energy and staying grounded. Whether it’s a creative hobby, a walk in nature, coffee with a friend, or simply unplugging to enjoy a slow morning, these moments of joy help you return to work feeling refreshed instead of drained. One helpful tip? Treat personal time like it’s just as important as a client call. Schedule it in your calendar and honour it.
