At the start of a new month, I carve out time to reset my life. This routine leaves me feeling inspired and ready to take on a new month ahead. Below are the three essentials for me heading into a new month:

  1. Have a Reset Day
  2. Check with my Goals + Set Monthly Intentions
  3. & Journal for the New Month

What are the benefits of journaling in the morning?

Journaling in the morning is an accessible and valuable practice for setting the tone for the day. It encourages mindfulness, increases self-awareness, and helps to ensure that you start your day with a clear and focused mindset. It helps you set clear intentions and goals for the day, which can enhance your productivity and effectiveness. Journalling is an act of self care, so be sure to give yourself the freedom to write your thoughts and feelings without judgement.

Now let’s dive into the journal prompts for a new month:

1. What went well last month? What didn’t go as well?

Write about your favourite part of this past month. List some fun memories or any accomplishments you experienced. If nothing good happened that you can think of, it’s okay. Some months are harder than others, we hear you and are here for you! If this is how you are feeling, write about what went wrong and how it made you feel. Getting these feelings off your chest are critical for starting a fresh month.

2. Brain dump a to-do list.

You definitely don’t want to go into a fresh month with a cluttered mind. Take some time to brain dump anything on your mind or any lingering to do’s you want to finish this month. This could also be a great time to make sure your calendars are up to date with any important reminders or appointments!

3. What are your top 3 priorities this month?

Take time to check in with your yearly + quarterly goals. Break those goals down into 3 main priorities for this month. By looking at those larger goals monthly, it gives us a chance to break them down into smaller achievable goals, which leads to success!

4. What habits and routines do you want to focus on this month?

Setting goals is SUPER important, but after taking time to review your goals, it is good to break those goals into micro daily habits, this will only bring you closer to achieving the life you dream of. Our daily routines and small habits are going to be the things that add up and get us to the place we want to be.

5. What areas of your life do you feel you have been neglecting lately?

Have you been slacking on your supplements, or having a hard time managing your boundaries? Whatever it may be, take the time to write about this and why you think this has been a struggle for you lately. Maybe you have been feeling lost, that’s okay we all experience this! It can feel scary, but the first step is figuring out what you can do to get back to your truest self.

6. What do you want to let go of this month?

This is a really important one and takes a bit of self-reflection. What is no longer serving you or bringing you genuine joy? It could be anything that comes to mind, possibly a habit you don’t feel aligned with anymore or even a goal you’ve been working towards. We’re all allowed to change.

7. How did your lifestyle choices contribute to your overall well-being throughout the month?

What lifestyle choices are you making in your everyday life? Are you going to bed and waking up around the same time everyday? Are you eating whole foods and trying to stay away from processed ones? How are the actions in your daily life, adding up and contributing to your over all well-being? Small yet positive routines can make a BIG difference in how you feel. Reflect on these and see where you can improve to help yourself feel even better.

8. I am proud of myself for...

Make a list of things you’re proud of! What went well this month? Did you hit a goal at work? Possibly you were able to get out for more daily walks, or you spent more quality time with your family. Whatever you feel most proud of, write it down! It’s important to focus in on the positive too, not just on what can be done differently.

9. How do you want to feel after the next 30 days?

Think about this. What are the mindsets or limiting beliefs that you need to leave behind in order to step into this version of yourself? How do you want to feel in a months time? What are the goals you’re focusing in on in the next 30 days? Take your time with this one, these are all starting points to unlock how you want to feel as the next month goes by.

10. This month, I am excited for…

Let’s finish off thinking about all the exciting plans or goals we are focusing on this month. Take some time to appreciate your life and remind yourself of all that you have. All in all, we know that setting intentions and goals is important, but focusing in on the fun is just as vital! What are you looking forward to this month!?
