30 ideas to add to your summer bucket list, when you’re looking for some extra inspiration!
Summer is almost here and we are READY FOR IT! Who else can agree on this one? If you live in Canada or anywhere else in the world that gets about 6 months of winter, I’m sure you can related. Summer is the time of year to spend more time outside, be a bit more social, do some travelling, kick back and enjoy the sunshine. As the temperatures start to rise and the days grow longer, May is the perfect time to start planning your summer. Whether you’re seeking thrilling escapades or peaceful respites, a summer bucket list is a great way to ensure you make the most of the season. So, make sure to grab your pen and paper (or digital planner) and let’s start crafting your ultimate summer bucket list!
Meg and I have been making summer bucket lists since we were in high school. We’d get out our markers and brainstorm all the fun things we wanted to do once we were done school. And honestly, not much has changed. I must say, I love it.
Why Create a Summer Bucket List?
A bucket list is more than just a list of activities; see it as a roadmap for creating new memories. Here’s why you should consider making one this year:
- Stay Intentional: Summer can slip away so quickly! If we’re lucky, it’s warm from June – September and that’s about it when you live in Canada. A bucket list keeps you focused on what you want to achieve and experience during the season. We are all about being intentional with setting goals and plans. If we’re intentional about our goals, why not be intentional about our fun plans too?!
- Try New Things: Summer is a great time to step out of your comfort zone and explore activities you keep telling yourself you want to try. Maybe trying new things was part of your new years resolution, possibly you’ve been wanting to say yes to more fun experiences. Well, having a bucket list can hold you accountable to that goal.
- Make Memories: Whether alone, with family, or friends, a bucket list provides opportunities for bonding and creating unforgettable moments. Life is full of magic, and if we don’t fully take in those moments when they happen, it can go by in the blink of an eye.

Crafting Your Summer Bucket List
Now that you’ve found your reason to make a bucket list, let’s get down to business. How will you go about making your list? We’ve done this quite a bit over the years, so here are some steps to help:
Brainstorm Ideas: Start first with a total brain dump. Write down everything you’d love to do this summer. What have you been dreaming about all winter? Are there things you’ve been talking about with friends but haven’t tried yet? Think about activities you want to do or places you’ve been wanting to go!
Categorize Your List: Divide your list into categories like Adventure, Relaxation, Creativity, Learning, and Wellness. This will ensure a well-rounded summer experience.
Set Realistic Goals: Be ambitious but also realistic. Consider your budget, time constraints, and any other commitments you have. If you don’t complete everything on your bucket list, not a big deal! Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. The bucket list is purely there to help spark inspiration and remind you of all the fun things you want to do. If you don’t get around to it this year, save it for next summer! 🙂
Consider Local Gems: We’re all for setting our sights high and exploring all sorts of cool new places in the summer. But you don’t have to go far to have a good time. Perhaps you explore what your own town or region has to offer. Sometimes the best adventures are right in your backyard.
